Hater Heatedly Harangues Honjii

How’s that for alliteration?  The other day, in the comments section of Pavlov’s Republicans, a visitor alerted me to the fact that I have a “fan”.  I clicked the link to find a blog, still in its infancy (in more ways than one), entitled, I Hate Honjii.

The blog is run by Melissa who says this about herself and the purpose of her blog:

I am a good Christian who loves My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Honjii is an evil heathen and she is against God. I know God wants me to speak out against her and her kind. Last night God gave me a sign that the way He wants me to do this is to start a blog against her.

She seems sincere enough though not very bright (why am I not surprised).  I didn’t know whether to just ignore it and see what happens with it…but how would I have any fun if I did that?  Not only does Melissa hate me, but she hates everyone I like, starting with my blogroll.  As I am the subject of her blog, for reasons unknown to me, she hates me the most.  Woohoo, I win!  Shouldn’t I receive some sort of blogger award for that?  We all know that good Christians are taught to hate, but most of them call it by other names, enabling them  to keep the fantasy alive.

On her blog, rather than a blogroll she has a list called, Other Blogs I Hate,  which have been taken from my blogroll.  As a test, I added a new blog, to mine,  and discovered that within a few hours it appeared on her hate list.

Here’s my plan…this should really screw with her…though if her head explodes I take no responsibility…that’s in the hands of whatshisfaceinthesky.  I’m going to visit her blog, tell her I bear her  no ill will, that everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  Then to show her how open minded I am I will tell her I’m adding her to my blogroll.  I can’t wait to see if she will continue her practice of gleaning from my blogroll to garner blogs she hates.  Will she add her own blog to her hate list and hate herself, or be quickly exposed as a hypocrite going against what she has described as her modus operandi?  Oh wait, that would describe most of what religion is about anyway, so no big deal.

Let the games begin.

Pavlov’s Republicans

I began with the assumption that everyone has heard of Pavlov’s dog - but it was only a momentary lapse – until I remembered we have no shortage of uninformed and/or mis-informed people , so click the link if you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.  The short version is that Pavlov rang a bell when he fed his dog, after a while the sound of the bell caused his dog to salivate.  It’s called conditioned response.

I have come to believe that the sound of Obama’s voice (or the mention of his name) causes a similar response in members of the Republican cult party.  If Obama promotes something the right wingers automatically oppose it.  This automatic response is so ingrained that if I were Obama I would use it to my advantage.  I know you’re going to roll your eyes and say I’m being silly, and too simplistic, but some of the garbage I’ve heard coming out of the mouths of the right is a good indication, to me, that we’re dealing with extremely simple minds.  So yes, here is my simple solution.  Reverse psychology.  Need I say more?

It’s a tad long, but worth every mesmerizing second.

Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine’s version of “America’s Got Talent.” She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and “sand painting” skills to interpret Germany’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.

Is it Aftershock?

I started writing this in response to a comment on my previous post, John McCain Leading Fight Against Obama.  I changed my mind and decided to write a post instead.

I’m baffled by the negativity toward and downright hatred of Obama coming from so many sources, some from people I never would have expected.  Slightly more than half of us were literally dancing in the streets when we elected Obama.  Some of our elation arose from the realization that we were finally free from the oppression and idiocy of the Bush regime, some stemmed from the knowledge that we were witnessing history being made, electing the first non-white President.  In addition, those of us that voted for him felt he was the best choice of the two remaining candidates to do the best for our country.

Obama inherited a huge mess, and while he is making mistakes and missteps, he has accomplished a lot in his short time in office.  But let’s get real, nobody is prepared for the job of Commander-in-Chief, unless they have been president of another country and that will never happen.  People are criticizing Obama because he’s not doing enough to fix our broken country.  They remind me of those obese folks, who having been living on fast food, Twinkies, and soda for the last ten years; decide it’s time to get in shape, buy a gym membership, hire a personal trainer and three weeks later complain they’re not movie star thin.  I’ve heard many a trainer explain to a client that it took years to get into their present condition, asking if they truly believed they could undo the damage, in a healthy way, in only a few weeks.  It took Bush eight years to screw things up, and you guys want Obama to wave a magic wand and fix it in eight days, eight weeks, eight months…what’s your acceptable timetable here?

I think a large part of the negativity against Obama has its roots in racism.  It reminds me of the attitudes people have about life in general.  I can: eat what I want, heart disease only happens to other people, smoking won’t make me sick, seat-belts, who needs ‘em?  But when they get heart disease, lung cancer, are paralyzed in a car accident they are in a state of shock, asking themselves, “How could this happen to ME?”  And now those that did not support Obama are experiencing that same shock.  They never believed it would happen to them, no way was America going to elect a black president; or those descriptions that make me cringe, calling him the N word or that colored boy.  But it happened and now they are all asking themselves how could this have happened to us, and how do we fix it?

How about you get behind him and rather than criticize every breath he takes and every move he makes, try to do your part to help dig us out of this huge hole before we find ourselves on the list of third-world nations where the best jobs we can get are online or telephone tech support for China’s huge corporate outsourcing programs.  It’s ironic, when I was a kid we used to dig holes in the ground and we thought if we dug deep enough we could dig all the way to China.  It seems we may have done just that.
