Joan Heffington is running for governor of Kansas.  Check out the O in her last name.  Her website contains a bible quote and I’m really glad I don’t live in Kansas (or Tennessee).  It seems she didn’t get the memo about separation of church and sate, has plans to abolish it, is so holy she sees no reason for it, or is just another religious wing nut.  Here are some of her campaign promises, however in front of each point she uses a cross instead of a bullet point:

* Sign into law only those bills that have 2/3 approval of the people
* Require that a Biblical and Constitutional reason exist for the passage of any new laws
* Allow teaching of Christianity vs. evolution in schools
* Introduce a “No Child Left Alone” Act so that working parents can adjust their start/stop times to take their children to and from school (families first!)
* Stop fraud and corruption by overhauling our legal system, electing all judges and creating citizen review boards
* Review all complaints against judges, courts, police, schools, etc. & ensure settlement without litigation
* Introduce a justice amendment offering effective assistance of counsel in a civil matter to those who can’t afford it
* Review jail population for false/frivolous charges; if found, charges will be expunged & person released
* Repeal the War Powers Act so that Congress and the people must vote on decisions to go to war
* Support FAIR tax/eliminate property tax for persons 65 & older
* Review all bankruptcy/foreclosures and if fraud is discovered, mortgage is forgiven

  2. Here in Australia we have to have all election promises “costed” by the Treasury. It stops some of the outrageous financial commitments politicians try to foist on the electorate.

    • You mean if you are not rich, or a big corporation you can’t purchase a politician and/or a win for him/her?

  3. This woman’s “promises” are really hilarious on many levels. The first of which is that fact that her very objectives demonstrate a fundamental lack of knowledge about federal versus state government functions and spheres of power. Secondarily, she must be planning on significant tax hikes to fund such lofty plans.
