Terrorists or Christians?

A Christian militia group calling themselves Hutaree were plotting to kill a police officer, then slaughter scores more by bombing the funeral in hopes of starting an uprising against the U.S. government and the Antichrist.  Did the nice crazy Christians have a collective lapse of memory?  Doesn’t one of their ten commandments say something about thou shalt kill?  The plan was thwarted when nine members of the group were arrested, but I’ll bet there’s more where they came from.

The ex-wife of the group’s leader said, “You go to church. You pray.  You take care of your family.  I think David started to take it a little too far.”  A little too far?  I nominate that for the understatement of the year award.

Once again, Christians who if asked would likely claim to be pro-life, killing in the name of Christianity.

From the CBS news website

According to a website purportedly run by the group, Hutaree.com, Hutaree are Christian “soldiers” who are arming themselves and training in anticipation of the coming of the Anti-Christ, which they believe is imminent.

A quote from the website reads: “Jesus wanted us to be ready to defend ourselves using the sword and stay alive using equipment.”

  1. Whatever they are, they’re scary. And they’re not alone. I’d be reluctant to mix religion too far in the mix of their craziness toward the government, but I’m usually guilty of erring on the side of caution in that sense.
