I don’t know who wrote this, it came in an email and I thought it worth sharing.

This should hit every e-mail to show how stupid we have become!

And if we do not wake up and take our country back – WE will not have a country , nor a society to grow old in or for our children to grow up in

Think about it !

  1. from a firsthand view of the whole school situation…agreed! (though these are, thankfully, the exceptions and not the rule in present day. not everyone gets caught.)

  2. The quail hunting, I believe, is from the headlines. Several of the other examples seem to be worst case scenario conjectures. But close enough to be within the realm of today’s level of ignorance among parents.

Our great grandparents, and in some cases our grandparents, worked with horses, or with people that worked with horses and other livestock, and thus had a very realistic and healthy respect for discipline. Discipline is not just fine manners to parade before company, or lack of complaint by teachers. Discipline, “the will to complete a task”, is a safety issue. When we live around actual, physical, present hazards, respect, courtesy, and discipline are keys to surviving and thriving.

Parents that see someone punish their kid, and react with ‘Dang, that is something I didn’t teach the kid,’ as our great-grandparents were most likely to do, would likely apologize to whoever did the punishing for the parent’s failure to teach the kid, and also apologize for the kid’s misbehavior. Then they would address the faults in the kid’s learning.

Parents that see that same scene and respond to an assault on their kid – are setting that kid up to die young. This is a hostile world. Many missteps result in someone being killed – by careless or reckless people with weapons, cars, or character assassination tools.

During the Reagan era, Federal courts found that parents that failed to teach their kids discipline committed felony child abuse – as in, lose custody of the kid, go to jail. That finding apparently needs to be dusted off.

Damn that Dr. Spock and his twisted baby book. That book ruined a generation, and cost the US generations of child rearing know-how. If he could have just stuck to health issues.

    Thanks for the post, Honjii.

  3. Although a lot of these are way too extreme to both sides, I agree with the idea behind it. Society has become a little too over cautious.
