What Does McCain Have Against Bills?

Seems like McCain is dodging bills all over the place. Here are just a couple.

Lucky for those who have served in the military since 9/11 the latest GI Bill has increased their benefits. From the Associated Press:

GI BILL — $63 billion over 10 years for increased college aid for military service members and veterans who served after Sept. 11, 2001. The value of the benefit is more than doubled _from $40,000 to $90,000, enough to cover a full four-year college education in most cases. The new benefit would provide full in-state tuition and fees for enrollment in a public college, a monthly housing stipend and $1,000 per year for books and supplies. People who serve three years would receive the full benefit; those with shorter enlistments would receive between 40 percent and 90 percent of the benefit. The benefits could be transferred to a service member’s spouse or children.

Though McCain, the war vet/hero opposed the bill and didn’t even bother to show up when it was time to vote on it, Bush thanked McCain for helping to make this bill reality. It’s getting so that it’s hard to figure out which one of these idiots is more confused about truth and reality. Way to support the vets, John! His argument against these benefits was that it would reduce the retention rate…we wouldn’t want to make it too attractive to get out of the military now would we? What McCain is too stupid to realize is that without recruitment there will be nobody to retain, that if there are attractive benefits at the end of the tunnel more people might be willing to sign up for the chance to have their head blown off by an IED.

On the other hand McCain makes some good points. Those who come home from the HELL that is war should get their lives back on track the old fashioned way like he did. He put in his service to the country and didn’t come out whining about what the government now owes him. So to all the troops, be more like McCain toughen up, take care of yourself, follow his example and marry an heir/heiress worth hundreds of millions of dollars and life will be grand.

Now for the next bill McCain apparently opposes is the property tax bill on a home he and his wife own in the San Diego area. It turns out the property taxes haven’t been paid in four years. Wouldn’t you think someone who calls himself a patriot would be more diligent about such matters? It’s not like he is new to home ownership and ignorant about what it entails since he has something like seven homes and I’ll bet they all have property taxes. Plus, not to point out the obvious, but isn’t he old enough and rich enough to know better?

I would be willing to bet that if Obama paid his property taxes a day late it would be all over the news, and all the right wingnuts would be having a field day with it.
